JUDAEA, First Jewish War. 66-70 CE. Shekel (Silver, 24 mm, 13.61 g, 12 h), Jerusalem, Year 1 = 66/7. 'Shekel of Israel' (in Hebrew) Omer cup with pearled rim; above, '1' (in Hebrew). Rev. 'Jerusalem the holy' (in Hebrew) Stem with three pomegranates. Hendin 6383. Meshorer 187. Sofaer 2. Beautifully toned and well struck on good metal. Small traces of horn silver, otherwise, extremely fine.
